Cameron Crowe was already a favorite filmmaker of mine when Almost Famous came out. I mean, at that point, every single film he had been involved with had been an absolute banger. And the trailers for this one… it looked to be his masterpiece, and, frankly, looking back, in my opinion, it was.

My appreciation for it even survived the hype …
