I used to prefer writing in silence. I may still even, but I’ll never know because of the goddamn leafblowers.
Look, I get it. If I were taking care of multiple yards a day, I wouldn’t wanna sit there and rake like a chump either. I want to blow that shit and move on. So, I’m not hating on the leafblower wielders. I’m hating on the leafblower innovators.
Where are they? Why has no one figured out how to muffle this thing? Please, someone, get on this. I’m guessing writers all over the world (or at least in Los Angeles) will name their first born after you.
So, yeah. I listen to music now when I write. Granted, it only knocks the leafblower noise from a deafening scream down to an existential howling. But, hey, its something.
I listen to all kinds of artists and genres and I plan on sharing, but I’d love to hear what you listen to as well. I’m always on the hunt for something new.
This week I’m going to share an awesome substack that I only recently learned about called Flow State.
What I’m loving about this is that they are suggesting new stuff all the time. I used to listen to the same tried and true playlists over and over and now it’s nice to mix it up.
Drop any music that’s good to write to in the comments or message me if you’re shy. I’m hoping to have one post a week like this where we can all share stuff that we do to make our creative process more fruitful.
