I've heard of people writing in hotel rooms. Most of the time I have to get out of my house to write, meaning my porch or back yard. In the past few years I've taken trips outside of LA to AirB&Bs in the desert and other places, for 3 or 4 nights specifically to plow through something. There's that psychological thing for me of moving to a different space altogether that says "Now it's time to work."
